Designed to minimize stress on microdialysis probes, Harvard/Instech’s Counter-Balanced Lever Arm moves with the animal to prevent slack in the tether. Most other lever arms use a mass as the counterbalance; ours uses an adjustable spring, making it lighter and more responsive. The mounting plate can be adjusted for mounting to the side or top of many types of cages, including our 61-0042 Animal Container, see Section C, Animal Handling and Containment. If you are using a shoebox-type cage, a counter balanced lever arm can prevent the tether from tangling. The 61-0023 is a 6 inch arm that is typically used in studies with rats; the 61-0024 is a 3.5 inch arm is practically a requirement for any continuous infusion study involving mice.
