CO-EX™ was developed to address the problem in drug infusion studies whereby compounds can be lost due to absorption into the tubing or evaporation through the tubing, or altered due to the leaching of plasticizers from the tubing. In humans, CO-EX™ is used to infuse insulin, nitroglycerine, and Taxol® (Eli Lilly) -- compounds which are not compatible with traditional PVC infusion tubing.
For these reasons, PE traditionally has been used for drug infusion studies. Unfortunately, PE is prone to kinking. CO-EX™ has PE on the ID fluid path and PVC on the OD which adds thickness to the tubing to minimize kinking.
CO-EX™ is designed to attach to commonly used 22 and 25 gauge swivels and blunt cannula. It is ideal for attachment between swivels and pumps and between swivels and cannulae. It is not designed for intravascular use. CO-EX™ is available in bulk, non-sterile 100 ft (30.5m) rolls.
