Mini Gelatin Drug Delivery Capsules
This is the only capsule on the market today that is small enough for dosing rats. It is also suitable for guinea pigs. It is ideal for the delivery of dry materials (powder, beadlets, crystals, paint flakes, etc.), pastes, and non-aqueous liquids. They can also be used to encapsulate and dose materials that are insoluble, form poor suspensions, are effected by excepients, or are odorous and distasteful to the animal. The capsules are made from hard gelatin. It is the same process and substance used for capsule manufactured for human use. They meet all FDA standards as well as USA, European, and Japanese Pharmacopeia standards. Additionally, with an enteric coating they are suitable for lower GI drug delivery in guinea pigs.

Easy-to-Fill
The small size capsule is filled with the desired substance using the convenient filling funnel. Simply place the capsule body into the holder, place the funnel over the holder and fill. They can be filled either with a premeasured dose or by weight. To fill by weight, simply place the whole setup on a precision balance prior to filling. Tare it and then fill the capsule. When the desired amount of the substance is in the capsule, remove the funnel and place the capsule cap onto the body. You are now ready to administer the capsule to the animal. A multiple capsule filler is available which will accommodate 36 capsules simultaneously.
Simple Delivery
Delivery of these capsules is simple and easy. The filled capsule is placed in the dosing syringe. The delivery tube of the dosing syringe is inserted into the animal’s esophagus. When in place, the syringe plunger is pressed and placement of the capsule is complete. Regardless of the location of the capsule in the esophagus, provided normal peristaltic action occurs, the capsule will reach the stomach and then discharge its contents within 10 minutes. The capsules may also be used for dosing rectally, vaginally, or subcutaneously.
For first time users it is recommended that you practice with empty capsules. This allows both the researcher and the animal to acclimate to the procedure.
These drug delivery capsules are clear and supplied in a package of 100. The dosing syringe and filler funnels must be purchased separately. Large size delivery capsules available.
