These Respiratory Flow Heads are suitable for pulmonary function experiments, respiratory and airflow measurements and exercise testing.
Respiratory flow heads contain a fine gauze mesh. Laminar airflow through the mesh produces a pressure differential which is linearly proportional to the velocity. The fine gauze mesh rapidly equilibrates in temperature with the air to reduce problems of condensation and the rugged design allows washing and cold-sterilization techniques to be used for cleaning.

Respiratory flow heads are available in 1, 10, 300 and 1000 liter/minute versions:

• MLT1L Suitable for use with mice, rats and guinea pigs.

• MLT10L Suitable for use with rabbits or similar sized animals.

• MLT300L Suitable for testing adult breathing at rest and certain lung function tests at constant breathing rates, not suitable for hard breathing or exercise testing.

• MLT1000L Suitable for adult human exercise testing or lung function testing.


They are for use with:

• FE141 Spirometer

• ML311 Spirometer Pod


Notes:

• When using the flow heads, take care not to kink the tubes

• Do not let condensation build up in the tubes

• Replace wet tubes with dry tubes

• Keep the flow head clean by using particle filters and washing it regularly

• Replacement tubing should be of a similar type, with an inner diameter of 3 mm and an outer diameter of 5 mm
