Our Clark style polarographic electrode measures 41.3 mm (1.625 in) long by 3.2 mm (0.125 in) diameter. The cathode is an exposed section of 0.1 mm (0.005 in) pure platinum wire in a fused glass seal.


To prepare the electrode, a sheet of polyethylene membrane material is sealed with an O-ring over a drop of KCl solution on the electrode tip. The temperature coefficient is 4%/1°C, so temperature stability in your system is important.


Each electrode includes a cable which is attached to the electrode and sealed to prevent salt contamination, a sleeve to use the electrode in our chamber system, a sleeve to use the electrode outside the chamber, extra membrane material and o-rings, a membrane installation tool, and polishing paper and Scotch-Brite for maintaining the electrode.


This electrode is compatible with the 56-5077 amplifier and YSI’s model 5300 oxygen monitor (the cables are different, so specify the appropriate part number). We also supply a special Thurman-style electrode for existing liver perfusion set-ups.
