This general purpose micromanipulator provides fast smooth 3-dimensional movement on a reduced scale by the operation of only two conveniently situated control levers. They provide lever-reduction for movement in all directions in three-dimensional space.
Operation of the control levers is simple and natural. There are no artificial movements to be learned. This is because there are neither movement distortions nor movement reversal between input and output, no arc-movement in the output, no lost motion and no backlash. The hand and the microtool move entirely in unison. Accurate linear movement, smooth control and high reliability have been achieved by using precision ballslides for all linear movements and by using precision lubricated-for-life spherical bearings for the outer fulcrum in each lever, and self-adjusting ptfe-lined bearings for the inner fulcrum. In addition to these features, it has an XY movement lock and an adjustable Z-movement stop. All these design features combine to make the general purpose micromanipulator a natural and accurate extension to your hand in the microscopic world.
This micromanipulator has two control levers. Operation of one lever results in output movement in a horizontal plane covering a 10 mm diameter circle. Operation of the other lever results in vertical movement with an excursion of 10 mm. Since both levers have a reduction of 10:1, each improves the positioning accuracy of your hand by a factor of 10. This means that you can touch a 25 micron line with reasonable ease. Ergonomic considerations have dictated the functional layout. Both levers can be operated simultaneously with one hand, and the handrest ensures steady accurate operation without fatigue.
This micromanipulator is available pre-mounted on a Quad base configuration: The Quad comes mounted to a larger base and is
supplied with the four manipulators, four BS4 69-0125 tool holders and an optional 25.1 mm mounting column for a stereo microscope. Other tool holders can be substituted.
