Copper Constantan Thermocouple Flexible Implantable Probes
These fast response probes are used for implantation in brain and muscle tissue, blood vessels, spectrophotometer cuvettes, rectally in neonatal mice, in water baths, etc. Custom probes are available for special applications as well. These probes are implantable in semi-solids and tissue with needle (supplied) and are quite rugged (except 52-1716).
These fast reading microprobes are strong, flexible, completely sealed and can be used to measure temperatures up to 150°C. They can be autoclaved or sterilized by use of gas (ETO) or Cidex. Our flexible microprobes are available with a sensor lead as small as 0.229 mm (0.009 inch) diameter. The extremely small mass results in fast response times with time constants as low as 0.005 seconds (this 52-1716 microprobe is rather fragile). 52-1757 microprobe sensor bead is exposed, thus, it combines the ultra-fast response of 52-1716 but has the PTFE sheath strength of the 52-1732.
All microprobes are made with the proprietary copper/constantan thermocouple wire and are guaranteed accurate to 0.1°C within the physiological range. Probes do not require individual calibration and are completely interchangeable in any (copper/constant) thermocouple thermometer such as the 52-1302 Portable Thermocouple Thermometer or the 60-1956 Single Probe Thermocouple Monitoring Thermometer.
